The Plough's Webber celebratory dinner with biodynamic produce

The Foodie Square Guide’s ‘Buckinghamshire Restaurant of the Year 2008 & 2009’ recently teamed up with former Formula One world champion, Jody Scheckter’s Laverstoke Park farm for a dinner to celebrate Mark Webber’s first win in Formula One.
The black tie dinner took place on Thursday 3rd September at The Plough Wavendon, about 4miles from Red Bull Racing’s Milton Keynes base.

The ticket price of £130 included a seven course degustation menu with produce from Laverstoke Park. The food was matched with wine, from Tasmania: home to Mark Webber’s Challenge Foundation.

Head Chef Grant Hawthorne commented: ‘Mark has been a regular at the restaurant and to show how proud we are of him and his achievements in Formula One this year, we donned our black ties and celebrated. Hopefully we will raise the profile for his Challenge Foundation too’

The Plough celebrates One Year

He comments further: ‘We featured Jody Scheckter’s biodynamic and organic farm produce, and we also had black summer truffles which were recently found in the woods in Aspley Guise. You won’t get more local than that!’

He continued: ‘Mark Webber has had an amazing year so far and his win in Germany puts him in line for the Championship this year. Not only is he a great racing driver, but he is a local hero to many: A humble Aussie, who has been our favourite Sunday driver. We wanted to throw a party for him and let our guests know about his charitable work through his Mark Webber Challenge Foundation’

Head Chef, Grant Hawthorne, has recently introduced his 2009 autumn menus with a variety of seasonal produce to add to the all British cheeseboard which has garnered national attention.
He comments further: ‘The Plough’s award winning restaurant; 300 bin wine list and some of the UK’s Best Dishes are to be found a mere 7miles from Central Milton Keynes and only 50 miles from London!’

The Plough Wavendon is open Tuesday to Saturday from noon, and its menu includes an affordable business set lunch along with pre-theatre dinner served between 5.30pm and 7.00pm. Sunday brunch is from 10am and lunch is served till 4pm.
